Using a portion of its ARPA funding, the Butler County Board of Commissioners contracted with altafiber in March 2023 to build fiber to underserved areas in Butler County and provide High-Speed Broadband Services to residents and businesses as a critical public utility service that directly impacts the vitality and quality of life within Butler County.

The Butler County Board of Commissioners recognizes the importance of High-Speed Broadband Services for employment, education, consumerism, telemedicine, and other resident needs to successfully function and compete in today's society.

Who is altafiber?

altafiber is headquartered in Greater Cincinnati and was formerly known as Cincinnati Bell. altafiber delivers integrated communications solutions to residential and business consumers in Greater Cincinnati, Dayton, and Southeast Indiana over its fiber-optic network including high-speed Internet, video, voice and data.

What is the construction and availability timeline?

Construction will begin in 2023 to approximately 60,000 homes and businesses, with plans to complete this construction by December 2026.

What services will be available from altafiber?

altafiber will offer Phone & Internet powered by Fioptics throughout Butler County. Fioptics+ TV will be offered to a large portion of Butler County, but at this time, there are some addresses within Butler County that are not covered by the current Fioptics+ TV programming agreements. altafiber has a partnership with YouTube TV to offer an alternative TV option for those not eligible for Fioptics+ TV. While there is no guarantee or timeline, altafiber will continue to evaluate options and hope to expand the Fioptics+ TV programming footprint at some point in the future.
